Thorndike helped to pioneer the classic New England neighborhoods that have come to define The Pinehills, a mixed-use community developed by New England Development and featuring more than 3,000 homes.  Brought into The Pinehills as one of the original builders, Thorndike built a series of neighborhoods over a ten-year period as The Pinehills evolved into one of the premier retirement destination communities in the nation.  Along the way, a number of Thorndike homes built at The Pinehills received Best in the Nation recognition from the National Association of Homebuilders.
