Bridgewater sits at the intersection of Route 18, Route 104, and Route 28 — a crossroads town in Plymouth County with roughly 28,000 residents, a state university, and a town center that still feels like it belongs to a community rather than a highway corridor. Bridgewater State University anchors the east side of town, and its presence gives Bridgewater a younger energy than many neighboring towns. The Taunton River runs along the western edge, Lake Nippenicket draws kayakers and anglers from across the region, and the Central Square common hosts a summer concert series that fills the green most Thursday evenings.
For condo and townhome buyers, Bridgewater presents a contradiction. Demand is strong — the town's school district (Bridgewater-Raynham Regional), Route 24 commuter access, and proximity to both Brockton and Plymouth make it attractive across age groups. But new-construction condo inventory within Bridgewater itself is extremely limited. Most of what appears on the MLS under "Bridgewater condos" is resale stock: converted Victorians, 1980s garden-style complexes, and small infill projects. The kind of new-construction condo community with garages, modern floor plans, and on-site amenities simply does not exist inside town lines.
That is where the towns adjacent to Bridgewater become relevant. Raynham borders Bridgewater to the southwest. Halifax is one town south. Plymouth is about 20 minutes east via Route 106 and Route 3. Each of those towns has an active Thorndike Development community under construction — and each is a shorter drive from Bridgewater Town Common than most Bridgewater residents make to reach their grocery store.
Bridgewater's appeal comes down to location and livability. Route 24 puts drivers on I-93 toward Boston in about 20 minutes. Route 104 connects west to Taunton and east toward Middleborough. The Bridgewater commuter rail station on the Middleborough/Lakeville line provides a direct train to South Station — a key factor for buyers who want to reduce commute driving without giving up suburban space.
The town has invested in its public spaces in recent years. The Bridgewater Public Library was expanded, the town common area has been improved, and trail connections along the Taunton River are gradually being extended. For families, the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District is a known quantity — one of the reasons young buyers look here despite limited new inventory.
Thorndike Development has deep roots in the towns surrounding Bridgewater. Red Mill Village in Norton — a 55+ community that won the NAHB's Best Active Adult Community in the Nation — sits about 15 minutes northwest. Greatbrook, also in Norton, abuts TPC Boston and introduced Thorndike's signature Victory Gardens concept. That building history in the Bridgewater-Norton-Raynham corridor gives Thorndike a detailed understanding of what buyers in this area expect from their homes and their neighborhoods.
Larkwood shares the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District — a detail that matters to family buyers making a move from one town to the next. A community of 138 condominium townhomes along the Taunton River in Raynham, Larkwood offers six floor plans spanning 1,671 to 2,830 square feet, each with a flexible ground-floor space for working from home, hosting guests, or hobbies. Homes begin at [fp:larkwood-the-hickory] for the Hickory — a ground-level plan with everything on one floor — and range up to $679,000 for The Birch, the largest plan with a cathedral-ceiling primary suite. A community boat launch gives residents paddling access to the Taunton River, and the neighborhood includes courtyards, walking trails, and a central green.
For Bridgewater buyers over 55, Featherwinds in Halifax offers the closest dedicated age-restricted community with new construction. Buildings with central elevator access make every home single-level — no stairs from the garage to the front door. Condominiums from [price:featherwinds] to [fp:featherwinds-the-wind] for the Wind plan, with one- and two-bedroom options from 1,027 to 1,598 square feet. The amenity package includes four town-maintained pickleball courts adjacent to Featherwinds, a dedicated dog park that welcomes all breeds, raised-bed Victory Gardens, and a poolhouse with fireplace lounge. The Halifax Senior Center, being built on Thorndike-donated land next to Featherwinds, is set to open fall 2026.
Buyers drawn to Plymouth's coast and dining scene — but priced out of the town's older condo market — may find better value at Alden's Reach. A 152-home mix of townhomes, duplexes, and flats from $569,000, Alden's Reach includes floor plans between 1,671 and 2,648 sq ft. The Hickory plan keeps everything on one floor with zero stairs; the Expanded Oak puts the primary suite on the ground level with bedrooms above. On-site walking paths lead into Plymouth's conservation land network, and the pool complex with poolhouse, fireplace lounge, and grilling patio serves as the neighborhood's gathering hub.

New-construction condo inventory within Bridgewater town lines is very limited. Most new options for Bridgewater buyers are in adjacent towns — Raynham, Halifax, and Plymouth — all within a 10- to 25-minute drive.
Larkwood in Raynham is about 10 minutes from Bridgewater center via Route 104 and shares the Bridgewater-Raynham Regional School District, making it the nearest option.
Featherwinds in Halifax is a dedicated 55+ community about 15 minutes south of Bridgewater via Route 106. Single-level condominiums with elevator access start at [price:featherwinds].
About 30 miles. The drive takes roughly 40 minutes via Route 24 to I-93 outside rush hour. The Bridgewater commuter rail station on the Middleborough/Lakeville line also provides a direct train to South Station.
Larkwood offers six plans from 1,671 to 2,830 sq ft. Featherwinds has five plans from 1,027 to 1,598 sq ft. Alden's Reach provides five plans from 1,671 to 2,648 sq ft — ranging from single-level to multi-story.
