On January 11, 2006, in Orlando, Florida, the 50+ Housing Council of the National Association of Home Builders announced their "2006 Best of Seniors Housing Awards" and Thorndike Development’s Red Mill Village was the big winner.
Red Mill Village is a 156-home active-adult condominium community in Norton, MA, near the Easton line. Built using the principles of Traditional Neighborhood Design, the community’s homes are spread over 53 acres, bordering the Canoe River, preserved forest land and beautiful walking trails.
Red Mill Village won the prestigious Gold Award for Best Overall Active Adult Community in the nation. (This is the top award for condominium communities with up to 200 homes.)
“We cannot be more thrilled,” said Nancy Ciampa McLaughlin, RMV Sales Director. “To think that a small New England homebuilder, such as Thorndike Development, comes away with the award for best active adult community in the nation is just wonderful. Our Red Mill Village homeowners and homebuyers are going to be so excited!”
Here is a quote from the judges: "Lots of green space for all residences, as well as great porches and backyards, marked this entry as a standout. The streetscapes were noted for their unique color scheme."
ADDITIONAL AWARDS:
Further, Thorndike is pleased to announce that RMV won 3 more Gold and 4 more Silver awards in various categories. Here they are:
- Gold Award: Best Condominium Unit Design, 1,701-2,400 sf. The Expanded Aldrich.
- Gold Award: Best Condominium Unit Design, over 2,400 sf . The Chapman.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE LOOKING FOR A HOME?
Awards are wonderful proof statements of quality and constancy and Thorndike is proud to have achieved the awards. But awards do not convey the lifestyle you will live or the guests you will entertain or the friends you will meet in your new Thorndike home.
